This very well could be the last week of the Minnesota Stars.

The Stars don’t have an owner. Quick recap: the Minnesota Thunder existed from 1990-2009, but folded under the weight of debts accumulated by their last, screwiest owner. The National Sports Center started a team – the Stars – for 2010, but couldn’t meet the requirements for league ownership when the NASL officially launched in 2011. The NASL took over the Stars that year, and the team’s been league-owned since.

The team may win its second straight league title this weekend, but they’ve got another battle on Saturday – to get re-authorization from the NASL to continue existing as a league-owned team. I look at this dichotomy over at SB Nation Minnesota today.
